After more than a century of service, St. Francis Hospital of Blue Island was acquired in July 2008 and its name was changed to MetroSouth Medical Center.

With that new name came a new focus on building a superior environment for you to practice medicine. Our Board of Directors, which includes six physicians, understands the needs of your physician practice. The ever increasing demands on your time are making it more and more difficult for you to focus on patient care. Support for your practice is critical. Through ongoing initiatives and strategic investments, MetroSouth Medical Center is providing the systems, the technology and the support staff to be more responsive to your inpatient and diagnostic needs and to ease the burden of medical documentation. Here are just a few of our physician-related strategic initiatives for 2009:

• Implement an electronic inpatient medical records system fully integrated with our emergency department electronic medical records.
• Provide electronic delivery of diagnostic test results to your office, which can be linked to an outpatient electronic medical record system in your practice, if you have one.
• Investment in substantial capital improvements, including digital imaging, PACS and a 16-slice CT Scanner.

In addition, we are establishing five new family medicine health centers to serve Blue Island and the surrounding communities.

Our competitive compensation model includes bonuses based on satisfaction, quality and productivity benchmarks. Like you, we want your practice to develop and grow, so we provide a host of services, including marketing support, free physician referral service, community outreach and assistance with public relations such as speaking engagements. As our patient volume increases, we anticipate providing additional staff support, such as nurse practitioners or physician’s assistants who function as physician extenders.
