What is a Midwife?
A midwife is a registered nurse (R.N.) that has been specially trained to care for women in pregnancy, through the labor and delivery process and the rest of a woman's life. Midwives aim to educate you about your body so you can make the best choices for you and your baby’s life. As long as your pregnancy is simple, a midwife can take care of you. If complications happen during your pregnancy, midwives work with doctors to provide the best care possible. All midwives at MetroSouth Medical Center are board certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and have a Master Degree in Nursing.
