CEO Message

Here at MetroSouth Medical Center, we are proud of our long legacy of providing exceptional healthcare for the Southland community. Our commitment to this tradition of care has never been stronger.

In July 2008, after more than a century of service, St. Francis Hospital of Blue Island changed its name to MetroSouth Medical Center. With that new name came a new focus to expanding and improving the healthcare services we provide this community. In 2009, we converted to electronic medical records so that our staff is able to spend less time with paperwork and more time caring for patients. In 2010, MetroSouth completed its conversion to all-private rooms. Here are just some of the other improvements we’ve recently made:

Stronger Women’s Services: We’ve added more than a dozen board-certified OB physicians, including two maternal-fetal medicine subspecialists, to provide 24/7 in-house obstetric coverage.

New Emergency Department: With our new electronic system for emergency medical records, we’ve reduced average waiting and discharge times and improved reporting to primary care physicians.

New Radiology Services: We now offer CT/PET scanning and all digital imaging, including mammography.

Improved Breast Cancer Detection: We provide our patients with innovative diagnostic breast imaging and needle biopsy on the same day following a suspicious mammography.

Community Outreach: We have established 12 new primary care and OB clinics to bring healthcare closer to home for the Southland community.

Thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to serving you and your family with a tradition of "The best care, close to home."
