If you are interested in learning more about diabetes, call (708) 597-2000, ext. 5755 to register for our free class. Free gestational diabetes classes are offered every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Emergency Department corridor. Translation services are available during class with advanced notice. Free Type 1 and 2 diabetes classes are offered the first Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. in the Emergency Department corridor. Call (708) 597-2000 ext. 5755 to register. MetroSouth diabetes classes are committed to helping diabetes patients achieve and maintain health lifestyles to ensure their continued good health.
This class will provide basic information for new and expectant mothers
who have an interest in breastfeeding, including breast feeding
advantages, proper techniques and how to cope with problems. Classes
will be held on the last Friday of every month with a Registered Nurse.

Learn what physical and emotional changes you can expect during
pregnancy, labor and delivery. Labor support techniques, including
relaxation and breathing techniques, as well as options for reducing

This course is designed to help prepare children from 3-10 years old for
the birth of a new sibling. They will learn what babies look like;
diapering, feeding, and other care. They will also get to see where Mom
and Baby will stay while in the hospital. Children should bring a doll
or stuffed animal on which to practice each lesson. Parents are asked to
remain during the class—and cameras are welcome. (So that your child
retains the material presented, please register for the class that is
nearest to your eight month of pregnancy.) Classes will be held on the
second Wednesday quarterly at 6:00 PM, with a Registered Nurse. Call

Parents and grandparents are invited to tour the Family Birth Place.
Become familiar with the surroundings and receive helpful information
for a comfortable stay at MetroSouth. The tour is approximately one hour
and free of charge. Moms-to-be will be able to preregister for their
